Just got back from business travel to Denver where on my extra day there I teamed up with Matt Wade to climb the First Flatiron. Mr. Wade recommended we climb the Fandango route. This route takes you over 1,000 ft. above neighboring Boulder, CO and was absolutely breathtaking the whole way up! Peak Mountain Guides provided all the equipment and some additional training on the “ins and outs” of multi pitch trad climbing. Peak Mountain Guides provided a smooth, safe and enjoyable experience the whole day. I have already planned my next trip (this time with my girlfriend). Climb On!

I joined two consecutive two-day courses in Ouray CO’s ice park to learn ice climbing techniques with Peak Mountain Guides. So far my ice climbing technique was purely ad-hoc as nobody ever taught me ice-climbing specific techniques, so I wanted to start it all over from scratch. After the first day, thanks to the pedagogy used, I already had corrected a lot of bad habits. As the days passed, the level was going up, mixing mix-climbing to ice-climbing and going out of the ice park. I also hired Peak Mountain Guides for 2 extra days of one-on-one training after the courses. After 6 days of training, I learned a lot, thanks to the exercises, the guides’ pedagogy and trips out of the ice park which allowed me to see other types of ice conditions. Without anyone to coach me, I think it would have taken me years to reach the level of confidence I gained in only 6 days with Peak Mountain Guides. It was a great training and also a lot of fun climbing with Jim Turner who was my guide for the 6 days.

We decided we would like to climb on the last day of our trip and the owner was able to fit us in last minute despite it being a holiday weekend. Our climbing guide, Danica, was EXCELLENT. This was our first time climbing and Danica made us feel very comfortable and safe. She is an expert climber and has climbed all over the world, but was able to teach us the very basics and was patient and totally focused on us. I was nervous about climbing at first but she made it a great experience for both of us and we plan to return in the winter to try ice climbing with her as well! Thanks for a great experience Danica and Peak Mountain Guides!
